According to emergency officials, the collision occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, when Hernando County Fire Rescue, the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), and the U.S. Coast Guard were dispatched to the scene following reports of a marine accident.
Responders aboard HCFR Marine 6 arrived to find that one individual had been struck during the collision after one boat reportedly overtook and collided with another vessel. Emergency personnel provided medical care at the scene before transporting the injured boater to the Aripeka boat ramp for further evaluation. The individual ultimately declined transportation to a hospital.
Authorities confirmed that no other injuries were reported as a result of the incident. Emergency crews secured the area while investigators began examining the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine what led to the collision.
